The Gloaming On Saltbush Floodplain - Gilles Conservation Area - Eyre Peninsula by Felicity Martens

Features

ARTIST NOTES: This impressionist work was done right after my return from the Gawler ranges on the Eyre Peninsula South Australia, we camped in the Gilles conservation area on our return journey, and we were blown away by its beauty. Arriving before dark the colour of the sky and the red of the sandy soil, the colours of the scrub were something else! Another stunning South Australian bushland.

ARTIST BIO

Creativity is compelling and cathartic for me. As a child I littered the rooms in the house with stories and drawings. I drifted into expressionistic, magical realism both written and painted, and began to understand the connection between creativity and mindfulness practice. I stopped painting for fifteen years and became a published children’s author. In 2019 I picked up the brush again and experimented with different mediums and genres. I’m constantly learning, inching back towards a more developed style of magical realism, storytelling is fundamental to my art. In 2022 I was a semi-finalist in the Moran National Portrait Prize and in 2023 shortlisted for the West Torrens Art Prize.  Most of my published art for sale is multi genred, only recently did I begin to put my magical realism out there such as the Milang artwork.  I can't wait to publish what I'm currently working on.  I've also been invited to create a public art exhibition/installation for the City of West Torrens little house website stories, so keep an eye out for that.

I publish information about my current projects through my instagram account which is felicity_martens_art.
